what does therapy look like?
Comprehensive Evaluation
This evaluation will help to determine what specific orofacial myofunctional disorders the patient has. The evaluation includes:
- Education on myofunctional therapy and its role in airway issues
- Deep dive into the patient’s health and medical history
- Evaluation of the face, mouth, and tongue muscles
- Detailed review of findings
- Personalized online treatment plan
Myofunctional therapy Sessions
- Approximately 12 sessions (30-45 minutes) over a 6-8 month time frame.
- Depending on the patient and their specific needs, there may be a need for a referral to other healthcare professionals (i.e. dentist who performs frenectomies, ENT, SLP, etc.) who can help address needs outside of the scope of this practice.
Practice. Practice. Practice.
The myofunctional therapy program isn’t successful without practice. Practice generally only takes 10 minutes or less each day.
“To become really good at anything, you have to practice and repeat, practice and repeat, until the technique becomes intuitive.”
